Description

Who is Two Worlds Consulting?
Two Worlds Consulting (TWC) is a Canada-wide social and environmental consultancy. We work with Indigenous Nations, the private sector, and government to support rigorous process, informed decision-making, and shared prosperity. Our commitment to people—and to more than one perspective—is clear in everything we do.

We work in a dynamic environment where nothing looks quite the same day-to-day, but we believe in shutting down at the end of the workday and not carrying work into our personal time. We value integrity, trust, respect, and reciprocity.

Position Description
Our People + Culture team is involved in many aspects of the business, and we are definitely more than a transactional team. We are looking for a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit HR professional who will complement our current skills and interests while bringing a new perspective to our HR practices. We are flexible in how we can structure this role so if you have passions for any particular HR functions, we are happy to embrace them and make sure that you have the opportunity to contribute to or lead these areas.

Priorities and Responsibilities for Our Team
  • Continuing our focus on the recruitment and retention of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit team members so that our team represents the communities with which we work.
  • Growing the cultural competence of our team and strengthening the cultural safety of our workplace in collaboration with our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and the Reconciliation Action Committee.
  • Leading recruitment activities through coordinating the logistics for and guiding hiring teams through the interview and hiring processes, in addition to being the primary point of contact for candidates.
  • Facilitating the onboarding process by liaising with management, IT, and technical operations to provide an engaging, worthwhile experience and bring new team members functionally onboard as efficiently as possible.
  • Supporting our team in their career planning and growth by continuing the development and application of the TWC Career Development Framework, including internal training, continuous feedback, and mentorship programs.
  • Acting as an essential resource and support for both teammates and leadership, including providing guidance in resolving conflicts, responding to employment-related inquiries, and coaching to enhance team collaboration and a positive culture.
  • Keeping our data current and complete, securely stored, confidential, and accurate so that it is available for reference, analytics, decision making, and to feed other key processes within the company, like resource planning.
  • Finishing the implementation of our new HRIS and talent management system (Deltek Talent Management) and building out the supporting processes to make the best use of this powerful tool.

What We’re Looking For
  • You have post-secondary education in Human Resources and at least three years of relevant work experience, OR at least five years of relevant work experience in at least one major HR function such as recruitment, HRIS management, performance management, training & development, or administration and coordination.
  • You have demonstrated experience in effectively engaging and recruiting Indigenous professionals OR providing HR support to a team of Indigenous professionals.
  • You bring a deep understanding of cultural safety and actively apply the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in your work.
  • You easily develop and maintain positive relationships with your colleagues and are consistently described with such words as kind, thoughtful, trustworthy, and supportive. You are a go-to person when someone has questions or needs help.
  • You enjoy keeping your work – and your teammates – organized and on track. You recognize when urgency is required and prioritize your tasks accordingly.
  • You are a vault for confidential information and can be trusted with everything from payroll numbers to personal medical information.
  • You take pride in your excellent communication skills – your emails are clear, friendly, and professional and you are effective and respectful in all your verbal and written communications.
  • You are a capable user of all the MS Office applications and learn new systems relatively easily.
  • You have working knowledge of the BC Employment Standards and always know when you need to pay close attention to regulations in general.
  • You are a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit person.

Working Location
This position is intended to be an in-office or hybrid role based out of one of our offices in downtown Victoria or downtown Vancouver; however, a remote position may be possible for the right candidate. Your People + Culture teammates are based in Victoria and like to work on a hybrid schedule but we have colleagues based across Canada.

Employment Equity
At TWC, we are committed to developing a diverse and inclusive team. As an Indigenous-owned organization, we are particularly committed to supporting the employment of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit individuals because we recognize the unique challenges and barriers faced by Indigenous people and because we feel it is necessary to reflect Indigenous perspectives and values in the work that we do.

Please note that this posting is directed at First Nation, Métis, and Inuit applicants under Section 16 of the Canadian Human Rights Act and Section 42 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, which allow for preferential hiring of members of a designated group to achieve workplace equality. If offered a position, candidates will be required to complete an Indigenous Identity Declaration Form.

If any candidate requires an accommodation or support to participate in the application process, please contact our HR Department via email at hr@twoworldsconsulting.com or call us at 778-401-6825.
